In 2012, 6-year-old Emily was on the verge of death. Faced with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, traditional chemotherapy had no effect, and doctors were at a loss. Finally, on the advice of doctors, she participated in a clinical trial known to very few people.
In this clinical trial, doctors collected Emily's T cells from her blood, reprogrammed them in the laboratory, and after reconstruction, these cells were called chimeric antigen receptor T cells. The redesigned cells were then reintroduced into Emily's body, and a miracle occurred: three months after treatment, Emily's bone marrow showed no signs of cancer.
Eleven years later, Emily is still alive and healthy. She has almost created a miracle in the history of human cancer treatment, and the treatment she received was CAR-T therapy.
