Misconception 1: Long-term congee consumption
Saliva contains many enzymes that promote food digestion and absorption, and the secretion of these enzymes needs to be stimulated by chewing. Regularly drinking congee will lack the chewing action, leading to reduced enzyme secretion, decreased digestion rate of food in the mouth, increased burden on the stomach, and also affecting the digestion and absorption of food in the intestines and stomach.
In addition, long-term congee consumption can slow down gastrointestinal motility, leading to reduced digestive function, which will not achieve the purpose of caring for the stomach.
