A kidney infection occurs when a UTI spreads to the kidneys. In addition to hematuria, symptoms may include fever, back pain, nausea, and vomiting.
Kidney stones, ureteral stones, or bladder stones can cause irritation, inflammation, and damage to the urinary tract lining, leading to blood in the urine.
Other symptoms include severe pain in the back or side, pain during urination, and frequent urination.
