Morning Eye Discharge: Normal or Indicative of Issues?

1. Foam-like discharge

If the discharge resembles foam, it might be due to dry eye syndrome or infection by pathogenic bacteria. In this case, clean the eyes with water or use antibiotics under the guidance of a doctor. For dry eye syndrome, artificial tears are recommended for relief.

Increasing the intake of vitamins A, B1, C, and E can also prevent corneal dryness and dry eye syndrome.

2. Watery discharge

If the eye discharge is clear like water, thinning out, it could be a viral infection. It is advised to use antiviral medications under the guidance of a doctor to prevent virus recurrence due to UV exposure. If there are abnormalities in the eyelids or ectropion, timely medical attention is essential, and surgery may be necessary.
