2. Animal Offal
Every 100 grams of pig liver, chicken liver, cooked duck liver, and cooked goose liver contain 275 milligrams, 317 milligrams, 398 milligrams, and 408 milligrams of purines, respectively. Animal offal is therefore known as the "king of purines," and even healthy individuals should control their intake, while gout patients are best advised to avoid it.
3. Shellfish
Shellfish refers to seafood from both rivers and seas. Common mussels contain 414 milligrams of purines per 100 grams, much higher than pig liver. Lobster, crab, shrimp, river crab, oysters, scallops, and other foods also have purine contents exceeding 150 milligrams.
