Causes of Dry, Sore, and Swollen Eyes

According to the "Chinese Dry Eye Expert Consensus (2020)," there are over 360 million dry eye patients in China, with one in every four individuals suffering from dry eye. Dry eye, also known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a common ophthalmic disease. It occurs due to insufficient tear secretion or excessive evaporation, leading to abnormalities in the quantity, quality, or natural flow of tears. Any disturbance in these three aspects can result in unstable tear film and/or damage to the ocular surface, causing symptoms of eye discomfort and visual impairment. Patients often experience eye fatigue, foreign body sensation, and dryness.
