04 - Enjoy Food with Exercise
The saying "exercise to better enjoy food" is not just a nice phrase but a real experience for me, my wife ViVi, and many friends around us.
Exercise stimulates muscle synthesis, increasing the quantity and volume of muscle fibers, thereby raising muscle mass. Regular strength training, for instance, can increase the basal metabolic rate by about 6.8% to 7.8%.
Basal metabolic rate refers to the energy metabolism rate when the body is awake, extremely quiet, unaffected by factors like muscle activity, environmental temperature, and mental state. It accounts for approximately 60% to 70% of our daily calorie expenditure. As basal metabolic rate increases, energy consumption rises, reducing psychological burden when indulging in delicious food.
Moreover, within 30 minutes after exercise, the energy consumed is prioritized for synthesizing liver glycogen rather than fat. The metabolic environment post-exercise is not conducive to converting carbohydrates into fat. Nutrients consumed are used directly for muscle tissue repair, making it less likely to accumulate fat.
